I think Stewart Pidd Hates English has definitely improved my writing skills. It shows how to correct errors in your essay. Sometimes the essays are a little confusing and hard to write. The book also teaches us how to use MLA format correctly in our essays. I do not like to re-read my essays, after watching the video I learned that I do not have to read, but I can look at the entire essay in some other way. Good writers look at one piece of writing as many drafts. First a writer put thoughts on a paper, then revising and looking at the construction of the writing. Looking at the writing in second way makes it easier, because you need to put the revision at the same importance and in the same process as the actual writing; you do not have to separate the two. The revision steps were in the video are
1)Look at the overall paper
2) Look at the papers organization
3) Examine each one of the paragraph
4) Make sure the paper flows and answer the readers’ questions
Editing prematurely means that when the writers write perfect sentences in writing they do not think about the flow and the readers’ answers in the writing.
Dr. Flowers was talking about the perfect draft syndrome. It means that the writers believe that to be a good writer is to be able to write on perfect draft. I try to do that in my first draft, but it never work out for me. A writer-based prose is someone that talks to themselves, not the reader in their writing. Reader based pros are the opposite, a writer who talks to the reader not themselves.
I learned that re reading and editing is not torture, but it is part of the whole process of writing.
